I’m dealing with Performant Financial over a debt, and the harassment has gotten out of control. They call before 8 AM, during work, and late at night. They’ve contacted my family and even threatened legal action. I feel completely worn down.
I found this guide that explains what might be violations of federal law, like calling my workplace after I told them to stop and not sending a written notice. It says I might have rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
Has anyone else been through this with Performant? Did sending a cease and desist letter or getting legal help actually stop the calls? I’m trying to figure out my next step before I lose it. Here’s the article I was reading: https://protectionforconsumers.com/how-to-stop-performant-financial-debt-collection-harassment/
